History
Gupta Permold prides itself on being a world-class contract
manufacturer and a master at many different manufacturing
disciplines. But it wasn't always as such.
Our company
was founded in 1980 as a small-scale Permold
aluminum foundry. Competition was tough during the 1980-82
recession, but we somehow managed to survive. At the onset
of the economic expansion, our high-quality aluminum parts
started to become popular letting us further prosper to the
point in 1984 when we started our braking
resistor department. In 1986, we continued with our explosive
growth by starting the manufacturing of high and low-speed
traction gear units. By 1991, we had
begun our latest foray into mass transit propulsion products
by manufacturing high-quality AC/DC traction
motors. In 1996, we added our operation on the west
coast to refurbish a number of components in the Bay Area
Rapid Transit system. Most recently, the Machining Division
was formed in the late 1990's to provide CNC Machining support for the
existing operations and new customers in the OEM.
As Asian
sourcing became more popular in recent years due to low labor
costs that can be taken advantage of for low-technology
components, the OEC Division was formed in 2000
Who knows
where the future may take Gupta Permold, but in any case,
we have our customers to thank for their continued faith in
our capability.
